Patrol Torpedo Boat (PT Boats) were a variety of torpedo-armed fast attack craft used by the United States Navy in World War II to attack larger surface ships. The original pre–World War I torpedo boats were designed with "displacement" hulls, displacing up to 300 tons and with top speeds of 25 to 27 knots. The PT boats used in World War II were built using the planing-type hull, were much smaller (30–75 tons) and faster (35–40 knots). Several builders were used and iterations were produced:
The Elco Naval Division boats were the largest in size of the three types of PT boats built for the Navy used during World War II. By war's end,326 of the Elco 80-foot PT boats were built - more than any other type of motor torpedo boat.
Higgins Industries of New Orleans, Louisiana, produced 199 78-foot PT Boats of the PT-71 or PT-235 or PT-625 classes.
The Huckins Yacht Corporation built a total of 18 78-foot PT Boats.
The Vosper Boat Company of Great Britain arranged for several boatyards in the U.S. to build 146 British-designed 70-foot motor torpedo boats.
The Canadian Power Boat Company produced five Scott-Paine designed PTs for the U.S., which were also sent as Lend Lease to the UK..

Other parts are made from a variety of woods, putty, resin and metals. Every model includes pedestals, mounted on a polished mahogany base board. Options include keel block mounting, waterline models, nameplates, ships seals and ribbons, and weathering paint schemes.
The model build time is generally 16 weeks from receipt of the order and deposit. The normal procedure is a 50% deposit with the commissioning, with the balance due prior to shipping.
