The Young America clipper ship was built by William H. Webb of New York. She was launched in 1853, at the height of the clipper construction boom.
The model hull is 34 inches, and the overall model length is 38 inches.
We used this as a training exercise for our model craftsmen and are very pleased with the results. The model is exquisitely crafted by our master model builders and comes fully assembled with a solid hull - hand carved from kiln-dried mahogany. Other parts are made from a variety of woods, putty, resin and metals. As shown in the photos, the model is mounted on brass pedestals on a satin finished base board.
