Some say that the battleship began with USS Monitor, the famous ironclad whose battle with the CSS Virginia in Hampton Roads on Mar. 9, 1862, drew the attention of the world. Monitor had a centerline, rotating iron gun turret, armored sides and deck, and steam propulsion. The first USS Texas, commissioned in Aug. 15, 1895, is considered the first "official" U.S. Navy battleship.  These lethal leviathans of the sea were in service as recently as 1991 when the big guns of the USS Missouri and USS Wisconsin hammered at land targets in Kuwait in support of the Allied ground offensive against Iraqi invaders. No battleships serve the U.S. Navy today, but their rich history and service will always be remembered.

Each model comes fully assembled with a solid hull - hand carved from kiln-dried mahogany.  Other parts are made from a variety of woods, putty, resin and metals.  Every model includes brass pedestals, a polished mahogany base board, and a brass name plate.  Model sizes start at 12-inches.

 Additional options include a protective display cases edged in a polished mahogany frame with crystal clear Plexiglas sides. For a small additional charge we can customize the included brass name plate and/or hull numbers.

Our models are only made-to-order, typically with a 8-12 week delivery time.
